EVERYDAY APPLICATIONS

From the workday
to the weekend.

Practical skin care for people who get stuck in. Apply a generous amount to dry hands and rough patches, massaging in where you need it most. Explore the uses below for care that fits your day.

Hand balm for tradies, farmers & gardeners

Tools, soil, frequent washing and long days outdoors can leave hands feeling rough and dry. Apply a generous amount to clean hands, knuckles and cuticles, massaging in to soften the feel of hardworking skin.

Care that keeps up: reapply as often as needed throughout the day, especially after washing or whenever your hands feel dry or tight. Keep a tin in your work bag, ute or on the bench so comfort is always within reach. Let it absorb before handling tools or equipment.

Lip balm for dry, chapped lips

Use a very thin layer on dry lips to soften them and help seal in moisture. A simple addition to your routine when wind and cold leave lips feeling tight.

For cracked lips: apply with clean fingertips and reapply as needed.

Dry elbows, knees, heels & cuticles

Give often-overlooked dry areas some attention. The concentrated texture suits rough elbows and knees, dry feet and cuticles that need a richer moisturising layer.

Try it overnight: massage into clean feet before bed. Take care on slippery floors.

Kawakawa balm for hunters

Long stalks, cold mornings and hours in the bush can leave skin feeling dry and weather-worn. Keep a tin in your hunting pack for rough hands, dry knuckles and weather-exposed patches. Reach for it whenever your skin needs moisture, whether you are taking a break in the bush or settling in at camp. Massage into clean skin to soften roughness and help seal in moisture.

Ready when you need it: clean and dry your hands, then apply a generous amount to dry skin. Reapply as needed throughout the day, especially after washing. Let it absorb before handling your firearm or gear. The balm provides no sun protection or insect repellency.

Tattoo aftercare & everyday ink care

Give the skin beneath your artwork the moisture it deserves. Our rich, fragrance-free balm helps soften dry skin and seal in moisture, making it a versatile companion for keeping fully healed tattooed skin feeling supple and cared for.

Fresh ink: follow your tattoo artist’s aftercare plan and confirm this formula is suitable before introducing it. Use only as directed by your artist.

A richer evening moisturiser

Give dry facial skin a nourishing finish to the day. Warm a small to generous amount between clean fingertips, then gently massage or press onto skin as the last step in your evening routine. Adjust the amount to your skin’s needs, your preference and how comfortably the balm settles.

Your skin, your routine: patch test first, avoid the eye area and use less if the finish feels too heavy. Stop use if irritation occurs.

Dry & eczema-prone skin

A rich, fragrance-free moisturising layer may help soften dry, rough-feeling skin and reduce moisture loss. For people with eczema-prone skin, the aim is everyday moisture and comfort, rather than treating the condition itself.

Patch test first. Follow your existing care plan and ask your health professional before use on an active flare.

Nappy-area barrier care

A little protection can make nappy changes more comfortable. Our oils and beeswax leave a protective layer on skin, helping shield it from wetness and friction while keeping dry areas soft. This barrier care may help ease discomfort associated with dryness and rubbing in the nappy area.

At change time: patch test before first use, gently clean and dry the skin, then apply a thin protective layer. Stop if irritation occurs. Seek advice if a rash persists or worsens.

Insect bites, scratches & outdoor skin care

Keep your everyday balm close after time outdoors. On skin around insect bites, its rich moisturising layer may help ease dry, tight feelings and reduce discomfort from dryness. Use it to soften dry patches and help hold moisture in.

Care first, comfort next: clean cuts and grazes and use appropriate first aid before moisturising. The balm is not an antiseptic or insect repellent.

Eyebrow shaping & dry brow care

Keep your routine beautifully simple. Warm the smallest trace of balm between clean fingertips and smooth it over your brows to tame stray hairs and soften dry skin beneath.

Less is more: keep the balm away from your eyes and lash line.

THE LEAF AT THE HEART OF IT

Native kawakawa.
Considered craft.

Close detail of heart-shaped green kawakawa leaves

A native plant with a rich history

Kawakawa (Piper excelsum, also known as Macropiper excelsum) holds an important place in rongoā Māori. We respect that history while keeping our own story grounded in a family recipe, Taranaki-grown leaves and careful small-batch craft.

What research tells us

University of Auckland researchers have identified more than 60 biologically active compounds in kawakawa leaves, including pellitorine and yangambin. This helps explain scientific interest in the plant’s complex chemistry.

These findings describe kawakawa leaf chemistry. The effects depend on the extract, concentration and finished formula; they are not clinical proof that our balm treats a skin condition.

For the leaf chemistry research, see University of Auckland’s kawakawa research overview.

HOW TO USE KAWAKAWA BALM

Care on your terms.
Reapply when you need it.

01. Warm

With clean, dry fingertips, warm a generous amount for dry hands and rough patches. Adjust the amount to the area you are caring for.

02. Apply

Massage into dry skin and give it a moment to settle. Use a thin layer on lips and a small to generous amount on the face, according to your skin and preferred finish.

03. Repeat

Reapply as often as needed throughout the day, especially after washing or whenever skin feels dry or tight. Make it part of your working day, outdoor adventures and everyday routine.

Patch test before first use. Stop if irritation occurs. Avoid contact with eyes. Contains coconut oil and beeswax; avoid ingredients you are sensitive to. Store closed in a cool, dry place.

A LITTLE KNOW-HOW

Make the most
of your tin.

What makes a water-free balm different?

A balm has a richer texture than a lightweight lotion. Our oils soften dry skin, while beeswax helps leave a moisture-sealing layer. Start with a little, especially on your face or lips.

Can I use it as a lip balm or overnight hand balm?

Yes. Apply a thin layer to dry lips or massage into clean hands and cuticles before bed.

How does it fit into tattoo aftercare?

For fully healed tattoos, massage a light layer into dry skin to help keep it soft and supple. For fresh ink, follow your artist’s aftercare plan and confirm this formula is suitable before introducing it.

What if I have dermatitis, psoriasis or very sensitive skin?

Choose skin care around your individual needs. Our balm provides rich moisturising care, but is not a substitute for treatment of dermatitis or psoriasis. Patch test and consult your health professional if you have a diagnosed condition.

What is inside?

Kawakawa-infused olive oil, coconut oil and beeswax. No added water, fragrance or artificial colours. Contains beeswax, so it is not vegan. Explore the ingredients.

What about irritated nipples, bruises or sunburn?

These uses need care beyond a general dry-skin routine. For breastfeeding nipples, ask your midwife or pharmacist about a product suitable for contact with your baby’s mouth; we have not established that suitability for this formula. The balm is not a treatment for bruising or sunburn. Use appropriate first aid, and reserve the balm for everyday moisture on skin.

Where should I keep it?

On your bathroom shelf, in your work bag or packed for a weekend away. Keep it closed, cool and out of direct sunlight. Always use clean, dry fingertips or a clean spatula.
